General Motors, including its joint ventures, moved a grand total of 248,815 vehicles in China last month, a 4.8% year-over-year decrease attributed to “softness in the overall vehicle market.” Still, GM and its joint ventures have posted a total of 2,197,192 sales through eight months, good for a 2.3% year-over-year increase to date.

“Amid the challenging market environment, we have remained focused on providing great products designed for China to meet the needs of our customers,” said GM Executive Vice President and GM China President Matt Tsien. “Recently launched models such as the Buick Excelle GT and Cadillac ATS-L have been well received by consumers and produced solid sales growth.”

Through eight months Buick, Cadillac, and Baojun have all experienced historic sales. Buick sales are up 5.4% with a total of 581,544 units sold, Cadillac sales are up 12% at a total of 49,186 vehicles sold, and Baojun is up 282.5% with 223,367 vehicles sold. The aforementioned Excelle GT and ATS-L have been huge contributors for Buick and Cadillac, respectively, and the all-new Baojun 560 SUV has helped matters by exceeding sales expectations within its first two months.

Chevrolet sales are down 7.4% to-date at 391,677 units sold, and Wuling sales are down 8.1% with a total of 948,643 vehicles sold.
