GM Trademarks “GearOn,” Looks to Take on 2015 F-150
According to a report from GM Authority, General Motors has trademarked the name “GearOn.” The USPTSO filing describes “GearOn” as a “truck bed cargo system comprised of tiered storage cross rails, utility rack stanchions, cargo dividers, and cargo tie down rings.” While General Motors has yet to release any details on the “GearOn” cargo system, there’s a good chance that it is meant to take on the BoxLink system housed on the 2015 Ford F-150.

It makes sense, after all. Ever since the Blue Oval unveiled the all-new and improved 2015 F-150 at the North American International Auto Show in January of this year, critics have been saying that other truck brands will have their work cut out for them if they want to catch up. One of the big updates for the F-150 was BoxLink, which is a cargo management system much like what “GearOn” sounds like.
We expect to see this system employed in the 2015 Chevy Silverado and the 2015 GMC Sierra when they come to market, but we don’t have any real word just yet. Keep checking in for more updates about “GearOn” and other truck technologies.
