GM Training Dealership Staff on Selling 4G LTE
If you haven’t heard by now that General Motors is rolling out 4G LTE technology, through OnStar, standard on 30 models across its four brands for the 2015 year, well, then you’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Here, we’ll wait.
As GM is the only brand to be offering this technology across so many vehicles, this is naturally something that the General wants to be pushed by its dealers. (Only Audi has offered 4G LTE tech previously, on the A3 sedan.) To ensure that dealership salespeople will be pushing the service appropriately, GM has provided online training to 50,000 employees across 4,300 dealerships on selling 4G LTE technology.
2015 GMC Sierra: Good for Towing 12,000 Pounds
According to Automotive News, Terry Inch, COO of OnStar, is encouraging dealers to make the 4G LTE feature a selling point, rather than just something added into the car-delivery process. It is imperative for selling 4G LTE that the dealership employees know how to establish the connection and pair wireless devices to the Wi-Fi. The employees also need to know how to field questions on monthly subscription plans, which range from $5 to $200 (yikes).
OnStar with 4G LTE is already available on the 2015 Chevy Malibu, which hit dealerships last month.
