The 2015 Buick Enclave was named the most American car on the market

AutoBlog has put together a list of the 10 Most American Cars on the market, determined by what percentages of the vehicles’ parts are actually “born in the USA.”

The results may surprise some, as many foreign companies have factories located in the United States (and vice versa). The Alabama-assembled Honda Odyssey minivan, for example, found itself in sixth place, despite wearing an Asian nameplate.

But in spite of all that, the top five slots on the list still went to vehicles manufactured under the General Motors umbrella, with GMC, Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac all well-represented in the rankings.

Finishing in fifth and fourth place were the Michigan-manufactured 2015 GMC Acadia and 2015 Chevy Traverse crossovers. The bronze medal went, appropriately enough, to “America’s Sports Car”—the 2015 Chevy Corvette, which is famously built in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Finishing second is the outgoing 2014 Cadillac CTS Coupe, which all-American car customers will have to hurry to get, since Caddy has discontinued the two-door model for the 2016 model year.

First place went to the 2015 Buick Enclave, which the publication wrote is “built right here in the United States.”

The total portion of domestic-manufactured components in all of the GM vehicles featured on the list, as defined by the American Automobile Labeling Act, is 75%.

It’s interesting to note that Ford, which outsources a lot of its manufacturing, was nowhere to be found in the top ten. Also, FCA’s only two entries—the 2015 Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Viper—finished tenth and ninth, respectively, below offerings from Japanese automakers Toyota and Honda.
