GM Women’s Retail Network Awards $29K in Scholarships

GM Women’s Retail Network’s Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program

General Motors’ Women’s Retail Network announced that it would be offering $29,000 in tuition assistance to 10 women this year in order to aid them in their pursuit of degrees in disciplines pertaining to the automotive sector. The record total comes in the fifth year of the GM Women’s Retail Network’s Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program.

According to GM, 2015’s winners are: Jannette Aguilar (Tyler, Texas); Mollie Arnold (Lowell, Indiana); Sandra Giron (Downey, California); Sarah Goudy (Ajax, Ontario, Canada); Madelyn Hamilton (Manchester, Michigan); LeeAnn Loyd (Rushville, Illinois); Tara Rodgers (Belleville, Illinois); Christina Salmon (Brighton, Michigan); Randigale Smith (Dunlap, Illinois); and Bethany Toups (Lincoln Park, Michigan).

Since 2011, the Drive to Succeed Scholarship Program has distributed $104,500 in scholarships to 37 individuals in the United States and Canada. The GM Women’s Retail Network was launched in 2001 with the intention of increasing the prevalence of women in General Motors’ dealership network.

“With women now the No. 1 consumer of automotive sales and service, it is paramount that we deliver an experience focused on their needs,” said Karen Miskimins, the Women’s Retail Network Scholarship Chair and member of the GM Women’s Dealer Advisory Council. “This includes a representative, diverse dealer body that is attentive, knowledgeable and committed to excellence. The Women’s Retail Network scholarship program provides a path for women to achieve their automotive career goals and fill the retail pipeline of with qualified female employees.”
