GMC Acadia, Canyon See Sales Gains in October

GMC sales in October declined 6.2% year-over-year as the brand delivered a total of 42,668 vehicles in the United States. Retail sales declined 6.6% from October 2015 at 37,039 units delivered.

Volume-wise, the brand was led by the Sierra at 15,050 deliveries, down 18.7% year-over-year. The all-new 2017 GMC Acadia contributed to a 23.7% year-over-year increase for the namebadge, increasing from 6,928 units in October 2015 to 8,569 units last month.

Sales of the Terrain totaled 6,358 units, down 36.3%. Yukon sales were up 61% at 5,677 units delivered, and sales of the Yukon XL were up 27.4% at 3,469 units delivered. Sales of the Canyon rose 15.3% at 2,785 units, bringing total sales of the mid-size pickup through 10 months near the 30,000-unit mark.

At retail, the Acadia, Canyon, Yukon, and Yukon XL posted respective gains of 17%, 15%, 3%, and 26%. The Acadia and Canyon both saw their best October retail totals ever, while the Yukon and Yukon XL saw their best Octobers at retail in nine years.

Additionally, GMC reported that its retail average transaction prices are growing at three times the industry rate, and that it saw more than 24% Denali penetration for the brand in October. The retail ATP for the Sierra also achieved an all-time high at $46,876 per unit.

Through 10 months, GMC’s sales total 434,100 units, down 4.7% from its pace last year. At retail, sales are down 2.7% with 382,517 units delivered.
