GMC April Retail Sales Reach Highest Total Since 2004

GMC posted its best April sales at retail since 2004 last month, delivering a total of 39,387 vehicles to customers in the United States and improving sales from the year prior by 4.6%. To date, GMC’s retail sales total 143,707 units, up 2.5% from the pace set in the first four months of 2015.

Overall sales were ostensibly flat at 47,159 units, and are up 0.7% through four months at a total of 168,207 vehicles delivered.

GMC’s overall sales were led by the Sierra, of which 20,531 units were sold in April. That total was 13.5% better than April 2015’s 18,082 units sold. Retail sales were up 14% and good for the model’s best ever for April.

Sales of the Canyon were also up overall in April, improving 24.4% with a total of 3,026 units. Retail sales were up 23%.

Sales of the GMC Yukon totaled 3,324 units, up 5.3% from April 2015. Retail-wise, the Yukon posted its 8th consecutive month of year-over-year growth, up 13%. The Yukon XL was up 8% at retail and flat overall at a total of 2,518 units delivered.

Overall, sales of the Acadia dipped 20.1% at 7,004 units; Terrain sales fell 16.5% at 7,344 units; and Savana sales were flat at 3,412 units.

Through four months, GMC’s overall sales are led by the Sierra at 71,662 units (up 13.3%), Terrain at 31,302 units (down 14.3%), Acadia at 25,575 units (down 12.2%), and Canyon at 10,603 units (up 10.6%). Sales of the Yukon XL are up 8.3% at a total of 9,220 units, and sales of the Savana are down 13.6% at 7,536 units.
