GMC Posts Best First Quarter Sales in a Decade
GMC’s US sales in March were only up slightly over 2014, but they were strong enough to deliver the brand its best March pickup sales in nine years and the brand’s best first quarter sales in a decade.
The GMC Sierra led the way volume-wise with sales totaling 17,395 units. GM noted that about 40% of all Sierra sales were for models sporting the Denali trim, granting the Sierra the highest average transaction price of any full-size pickup on the market.
The Terrain accounted for 8,030 sales, an 11.4% decrease from the year prior. The Acadia was down 11.1% year-over-year, but it added in 7,410 units nonetheless. The Yukon was down 18.9% with 2,661 units sold, but the Yukon XL was up 16% with 1,977 units. The Savana was down 6.6% with 1,800 units sold.
The Canyon continued its early success with another strong month in March. GMC moved 2,434 units of the award-winning mid-size pickup, helping to push the brand into its 14th consecutive month of retail growth.
