GMC Sales Down, ATPs and Denali Penetration Up in May
GMC sales in May were down 14.3% at a total of 43,395 vehicles delivered; retail sales declined 13.2% with a total of 37,448 units. Through five months, GMC’s sales in the United States are down 2.8% at 211,602 vehicles delivered, and retail sales are down 1.2% at 181,155 units.
Still, GMC saw positives apart from sales totals. Average transaction prices for GMC trucks and utility vehicles at retail were more than $3,000 better than they were in May 2015, a 7% increase driven by penetration of the Sierra Denali. Further, retail Denali penetration for the month was 26%.
Still, there were sales total highlight to behold. Canyon sales were up 15.9% and 17% at retail, good for the midsize pickup’s best May amongst individual customers. To date, sales of the Canyon are up 11.8% overall at a total of 13,964 deliveries.
Yukon retail sales were up 15% and Yukon XL retail sales were up 14%, and the Yukon’s overall sales were up 8.5% at a total of 3,747 units, good for the namebadge’s ninth straight month of year-over-year growth. Through five months, Yukon sales are up 9.1% at 16,056 deliveries, and Yukon XL sales are up 5.2% at 11,604 deliveries.
Overall, Sierra sales were down 7% at 17,642 units; Terrain sales were down 22.3% at 7,513 units; and Acadia sales were down 39% at 6,407 units. Savana sales were down 11.2% at a total of 2,341 units delivered. Through five months, Sierra’s overall sales are up 8.6% at 89,304 units.
