GMC Sales Soar in February with Increased Demand for Trucks
With harsh winter weather debilitating much of the United States throughout the month of February, pickup trucks and SUVs were in great demand with new vehicle shoppers. As such, GMC was the beneficiary of a great sales month, moving 42,433 units in four weeks.
GMC’s sales were up 19.3% in February thanks to strong performances across the board. The Sierra led the way with 15,157 sales, up 6.5% year-over-year. As General Motors notes, the Sierra leads the pickup segment for average transaction price, which makes that strong number an even bigger coup for GMC.

Terrain was right behind Sierra with 10,859 sales, good for a 16.8% sales gain and its best February ever. The Acadia tacked on 7,061 sales, up 4.1%.
The biggest gainers in February were the Yukon and Yukon XL, which were up 43.5% and 84.5%, respectively. Sales of the Yukon totaled 2,796 units over 1,949 units the year prior; sales of Yukon XL totaled 2,048.
The Canyon mid-size pickup truck continues to sell well, with sales totaling 2,513 in February. The Canyon has earned a number of accolades since hitting the market late last year, including being named the Best of the Best Truck by Autoweek.
Through two months, GMC’s sales in the US total 78,104 vehicles, up 23.4% year-over-year.
