GMC Sales Up in August on Pickups, Record Month for Acadia
GMC sales were up 3.5% in August with 49,363 units sold, resulting in the brand’s best August in a decade. GMC was carried by high average transaction prices and strong pickup sales, as well as a record month from the Acadia.
The Sierra was GMC’s heaviest lifter with a total of 21,241 trucks sold, a 7% year-over-year improvement. The Sierra is up 8.7% through eight months with a total of 141,899 trucks sold.
The Canyon continued its successful year with 2,423 trucks sold, bringing its to-date total to 20,094 sales. The Canyon and the Sierra posted the top average transaction price for their segments, and the Sierra had the highest ATP of any pickup truck.
The Acadia had its best August ever with sales totaling 9,050 units, up 10.2% from the year prior. Sales of the Acadia total 68,776 units through eight months, up 19.6%.
Terrain sales were down 4.6% with 9,237 units sold, but it remains 1.9% ahead of its 2014 pace with 72,460 units sold. The Yukon was down 4.7% with 4,493 units sold, and the Yukon XL was down 34.5% with 2,175 units sold.
