GMC kicked off 2016 with its best total and retail sales figure for the month of January since 2004. GMC moved 30,765 vehicles at retail and 36,933 vehicles overall last month, up by 0.7% and 3.5%, respectively.

GMC’s biggest mover for the month was the Sierra, which was up 13.9% at 14,381 units sold. The Terrain was the second biggest seller at 8,835 units, ostensibly flat from its 2015-opening sales total.

The ever-popular Canyon saw yet another month of growth with 2,270 trucks sold in January, a 2.9% year-over-year improvement. Sales of the Yukon XL were up 1.5% at 1,995 units, while sales of the Yukon declined 3.1% at 2,567 units overall but climbed at retail by 4%.

Sales of the Acadia, which set an annual sales record in 2015, fell 8.7% at a total of 5,385 units sold in January. The new-look, next-gen Acadia will likely bolster sales to a significant degree when it arrives later this year.
