The 2015 Corvette Stingray introduces us to GM’s new 8L90 eight-speed transmission, but the gearbox will also find its way onto the 2015 Corvette Z06. General Motors will also pair the 8L90 eight-speed transmission with the 6.2-liter V8 engines on GM trucks and SUVs during a rolling update. (These models include the 2015 Cadillac Escalade Platinum, the 2015 Chevy Silverado and the 2015 GMC Sierra top-end models, and the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali.

It turns out, GM is going to get even more use out of the tranny than that. Automotive News reports that the General will likely be introducing the 8L90 eight-speed transmission on the Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, and Chevy Camaro. According to the IHS Automotive forecast from which Automotive News formed its conclusion, we could also see the transmission added to the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon in 2016, and the Chevy Express and GMC Savana in 2018.

IHS Automotive is also predicting that General Motors will produce upwards of nearly 200,000 examples of the transmission over the next two years for the Silverado and Sierra alone, though GM has not released specific plans or goals.
