Cadillac Escalade sales have been a bright spot for General Motors so far this year

With 220,905 vehicles delivered, General Motors reported an overall February sales decline of 6.9% from last year. However, Cadillac’s sales were up 14%, while Chevrolet and GMC crossovers also saw strong gains.

“Consumer confidence is at its highest level since 2000, the economy is strong, our newest products are selling very well, and we have successfully managed the transition to the 2018 model year far better than most of our competitors,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of sales operations. “Customer demand, GM’s new products, and upcoming launches are in perfect tune.”

Here’s how sales stacked up for each GM brand:

Cadillac’s 14% jump was powered by sales of the XT5, ATS, and most notably the Escalade. Not only have Escalade retail sales increased 10% so far this year, but transaction prices have also risen by $1,400 per unit.

Chevrolet finished the month down 8.8%, but the brand’s crossovers posted a 7% increase over last February. The Equinox, Traverse, and Bolt EV all enjoyed their best February sales ever. Meanwhile, Chevy Suburban deliveries increased by 28% and Colorado deliveries rose 7%.

GMC’s overall sales declined by 8%, but its crossover sales were up 19%. Sales of the Terrain increased by 17%, and the Acadia posted gains of 22%.

Buick posted a 1.2% increase, including a 6% rise for the all-new Enclave.

GM fleet sales rose 7%, which was mainly due to a 15% increase in commercial deliveries.

Switching to March, GMC has already introduced its 2019 Sierra and Sierra Denali pickups. Chevrolet will follow on March 7 with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500D and 5500D models, and Cadillac also plans a March unveiling of its XT4 crossover.
