In “Godzilla Craves Italian,” Godzilla knows exactly what he wants to eat.

An incredibly bizarre but intriguing Fiat ad dropped today called “Godzilla Craves Italian,” in which Godzilla has a hankering for, you guessed it, Italian. But it’s not linguini on the menu; oh no, instead it is any Fiat 500 he can sink his teeth into.

“To hell with Japanese and German meals; I’m in the mood for some Italian.”

The “Godzilla Craves Italian” commercial surfaced only a couple weeks before the much anticipated Godzilla film rampages into theatres across the globe on May 16. Moving Picture Company (MPC) handled the stunning visual effects of the terrifying ad, and it’s no surprise that they’re so good. MPC also did the visual effects for the upcoming film.

“As one of the year’s most-anticipated films prepares to hit movie screens, we want to think big like the Fiat 500L, and what’s bigger than ‘Godzilla,’” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, Chrysler Group LLC and Fiat Group Automobiles Head of Fiat Brand. “There’s no escaping that whether appetites run for a sporty Fiat 500C, the small-but-wicked Abarth or the four-door Fiat 500L, there is a FIAT for every taste.”

Fiat would like to stress that this DIDN’T ACTUALLY HAPPEN, guys.

FIAT USA’s partnership with Godzilla doesn’t end with “Godzilla Craves Italian.” The brand is backing two different social programs as well. The first, which begins this Friday, May 9, is called “Fiat Godzilla Giveaway,” and will have fans of Godzilla and Fiat alike proving their fandom by getting their Facebook friends to “like” FIAT USA on Facebook. Fiat will be giving away movie passes and concessions each day via a daily sweepstakes, using a point system to determine the grand prize winner, who will receive 10 movie passes, $150 for concessions, and Godzilla merchandise.

The second program launches at the end of May, when fans can visit www.fiatusa.com and click on the “San Francisco Showdown” icon. Then they will be able to help Godzilla hunt through the city to find hidden Fiats and logos. For each Fiat or logo found, players will get one entry into a sweepstakes for a three-day trip for two to San Francisco.
