Gran Turismo 6 FT-1 ConceptAmped up about the all-new FT-1 Concept that was unveiled today at NAIAS and can’t wait to drive it? You don’t have to.

That’s right, you’ll be able to drive it tomorrow, January 14th, (virtually) when the Gran Turismo 6 FT-1 Concept becomes available for download. GT6 gamers will be able experience firsthand just how the FT-1 drives, as it was designed to be as realistic and truthful to the actual concept model as humanly (and computerly?) possible.

“Thanks to the amazing capability of the Gran Turismo game engine, gamers can enjoy a very real simulation piloting the ultra-high performance FT-1 on the tracks it was designed to master,” said Kevin Hunter, President of Calty Design Research, the group responsible for the FT-1design. Calty Design is celebrating its 40th year of sports car heritage with the all-new concept car.

Our guess? It’s going to be a wild ride. It’s so wild, in fact, that Toyota CEO, Akio Toyoda, already got his hands on the virtual Gran Turismo 6 FT-1 Concept and took it out for a test spin on Fuji Speedway.

“It’s always been a dream of ours to have our automotive partners use Gran Turismo in exciting new ways,” explained Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of Gran Turismo and President of Polyphony Digital Inc. “The design team at Calty developed a stunning concept car and we were honored to work with them to render the car digitally for the concept presentation. The FT-1 is a forward-looking, technically advanced and beautiful concept car. We can’t wait to see fans’ reactions as they drive the vehicle and get to know it the way I was able to.”

After downloading the FT-1 Concept, virtual drivers will be able to enter a “unique seasonal event” that features the concept car. If drivers score a bronze or better in this FT-1 Concept challenge, which will be held at Laguna Seca, they’ll get to keep the virtual car. If the drivers aren’t successful, however, they’ll be able to purchase the Gran Turismo 6 FT-1 Concept vehicle at a Toyota dealership in a simulator.

Good luck, gamers! Go get that bronze (or better), and let us know how it drives!
