GT Academy Team Finishes 6th at Daytona CTSCC
The opening round of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season was last weekend in Daytona, Florida, where the Nissan GT Academy team finished sixth in their Doran Racing 370Z NISMO. The driver, Bryan Heitkotter, won the 2011 Nissan GT Academy and this was his first American race. The Nissan GT Academy is a program that finds the best video game racers in Gran Turismo and puts them in real race cars to compete against professional drivers.
The V6-powered 370Z was up against a field of many V8 sports cars like Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers. “The 370Z was even more competitive against the V8-powered cars here at Daytona than I thought it would be,” said Heitkotter.
The other Nissan 370Z operated by the team finished 15th after dealing with a broken throttle connector, but set the fastest lap of the race.
The next race of the series will take place in Sebring on March 20th.
