2016 Buick Encore

Buick’s May sales were down 22.1% at a total of 15,625 units delivered, and retail sales were down 10.7% at a total of 15,567 units. This brings Buick’s year-to-date sales total to 87,632 vehicles sold, down 1.3% from the 88,783 vehicles sold through the first five months of 2015. To date, retail sales are up 4.9% at a total of 77,437 units.

Not surprisingly, Buick’s saving grace in May was the Encore, which posted yet another month of year-over-year sales growth. Encore sales totaled 6,522 units, which is 600 more vehicles than the combined sales of every other vehicle in Buick’s lineup excluding the Enclave. Sales of the Encore have now increased year-over-year for 29 consecutive months. Through May, Encore sales total 30,330 units, up 21.2% from its pace through May 2015.

The Cascada posted another strong month as it continues to reach a wider audience around the United States. Cascada sales totaled 829 units, bringing its to-date total to 3,316 units delivered. May also marked the launch of the new Envision crossover, which moved a modest 89 units in a short period of time.

Enclave sales were down 43.2% at a total of 3,200 units sold, bringing its to-date total to 20,657 units (down 9.7%).

Buick’s three sedans—LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano—all posted double-digit sales declines in May. Buick confirmed at the end of the month that the 2017 model year would be the last for the Verano, which is being phased out—hopefully (but not likely) in favor of a production version of the Avista.
