Gustavo YacamanOAK Racing’s Gustavo Yacaman hit the equivalent of a Triple Crown at this weekend’s Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsports in Bowmanville, Ontario. Yacaman set the fastest qualifying lap on Saturday and followed that up with the fastest race lap and a relatively easy path to the checkered flag on Sunday.

Yacaman, who also led both of Friday’s practice rounds, posted a 1:09.167 lap time on Saturday to capture OAK Racing’s second TOTAL Pole Award in as many events.

After capturing the pole, Yacaman said, “Of course, our goal is to win. We’re a race-winning team, and we haven’t won yet. Hopefully, everything will go our way tomorrow. There are many variables in motorsports, and everything has to go your way in order to win.”

Spoilers: everything did, and they won.

Gustavo YacamanAt one point during Sunday’s race, Yacaman built the lead to nearly 30 seconds. Thank about that for a moment. That’s like putting three runs up on an opposing team before they even get out of the dugout.

The victory is the first for OAK in the TUDOR Series, and Yacaman now sits at third in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship points standings.

The next race, the Brickyard Grand Prix, gets underway July 24 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Qualifying can be seen at 4:00pm EDT Saturday, July 24 on IMSA.com, and the race will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 at 5:30pm EDT on July 25.
