The Colorado can do it all, including racing evidently

The Chevrolet Colorado can be used for numerous tasks, including hauling heavy loads, carrying gear, and going off-road. Most drivers wouldn’t consider using the Colorado for racing, but that’s precisely what Chad Hall of Hall Racing has done by entering a modified Chevy Colorado ZR2 into the Best in the Desert Racing series.

Off-Roading: Go Off Road with the 2017 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X

Hall entered his custom Colorado into the Best in the Desert’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno” race. This race, which unsurprisingly involves participants racing from Las Vegas to Reno, began earlier today and ends on Saturday morning. During the competition, more than 350 racers will cross 550 miles of terrain through desert and mountain passes.

Hall’s performance pickup will have to race across Nevada’s tough terrain

Hall was eager to face the race head on behind the wheel of his 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. The vehicle was entered into class 7300, comprised of mid-sized trucks and SUVs.

The ZR2 already features added amenities not found on the base Colorado. This includes front and rear tracks that are widened by 3.5 inches and a suspension raised by 2 inches. The front and rear bumpers are modified for superior off-road clearance, and the ZR2 includes Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSVTM) damper technology.

“The Colorado ZR2 is one of the most capable production platforms we’ve used as a foundation for our racing program,” Hall stated. “The base Colorado is strong and robust with the expected advantages of a midsize package. ZR2 adds great technology, like the Multimatic DSSVTM dampers and the front and rear locking differentials that are vital to stock class desert racing.”

Pickup Updates: 2018 GMC Yukon Denali Updates

Hall made some custom modifications of his own for the specialized Colorado ZR2, including a roll cage, racing seats with safety harnesses, and a 44-gallon racing fuel tank for the pickup to tackle the task at hand.

As this race across Nevada comes to its conclusion tomorrow, it will certainly be exciting to see how Chad Hall and his specialized Chevy Colorado perform during the competition.
