Hamlin Wins Toyota Care 250 at Richmond
Denny Hamlin was victorious on Friday night at the appropriately-named Toyota Care 250 at the Richmond International Raceway. Hamlin’s victory marked not only Toyota’s first in the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series, but also the brand’s 100th in the series’ history and the seventh win for the Camry at NXS events in Richmond.
“Toyota has been such a big part of Joe Gibbs Racing and NASCAR and they’ve propelled this team to what it is and I’m proud to get 100 for them,” said Hamlin.
Since 2007, Toyota drivers have participated in 281 NASCAR XFINITY Series races, accumulating 2,542 starts, 94 poles, 780 top 10 finishes, 410 top five finishes, and 100 wins.
Hamlin’s victory was one marked by almost complete domination; the No. 20 Camry led 248 of the 250 laps, bringing the total number of laps led by Toyota in nine seasons to 20,485.
Since 2008, Toyota has won no fewer than 10 races in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. With two wins over 8 starts, it appears that this trend will continue through the 2015 season.
