The Cadillac Escalade is in line for a few changes to mark the 2019 model year

The Escalade is a reliable driver of sales for Cadillac, and it’s in line for a few updates to mark the new 2019 model year. Here’s what to expect for what’s likely to be the final model year of the full-size luxury SUV’s fourth generation.

The biggest change for the 2019 Escalade is in the back, as it’s receiving a hands-free tailgate with a logo light. Once the tailgate has been set up, you can open and close it by simply making a kicking motion with your foot under the rear bumper. This feature will be provided standard for all Escalade trims.

The 2019 Escalade will also be available with a new Sport Package. This package, available on Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum trims, will include these features: unique finish wheels, black gloss daylight opening surround, and a Black Ice Chrome-colored front grille, rear applique, lower fascia, and bodyside molding.

A complete makeover is expected for the Escalade in 2020

Finally, the 2019 Escalade will receive two new colors: Manhattan Noir Metallic and Shadow Metallic. Two colors will no longer be available: Midnight Sky Metallic and Dark Granite Metallic.

The Escalade hasn’t changed much since 2015, and updates to the 2019 model are fairly sparse. That’s expected to change in 2020, though. The Escalade is in line for a complete makeover in 2020. Details about the all-new Escalade are sparse so far, but reports have suggested that it will be built with an independent rear suspension or air suspension and incorporate design cues from the Cadillac Escala concept. There’s also speculation that the 2020 Escalade will include a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission, the latest Super Cruise technology, and possibly a plug-in hybrid trim.
