Late last month, 30 students from China’s Henan province were given an exclusive four-hour tour of the Ford AP Office and Lincoln Institute, given them an up-close look at a high-class corporate environment and first-hand accounts of Ford and Lincoln’s brand cultures.

The students all come from families who are affected by both poverty and the AIDS virus. The trip was put together in part by the Chi Heng Foundation, whose work focuses primarily on empowering communities in the task of caring for children with at least one parent who is afflicted with or has passed away as a result of AIDS or HIV.

The tour consisted of a tour of the Ford and Lincoln offices on the 29th floor of Shanghai Information Tower, and it was guided by Tim Chen and Susan Cheng from Lincoln. Once the tour had concluded, the students spent time in the Personalization Studio, Brain Storming Room, and Training Center; were provided with a basic understanding of the tenets that make up The Lincoln Way; and taught about the ways in which the Ford and Lincoln brands work together.

“I feel so proud that the event got so much support from the team,” said Tim Chen, Lincoln team and co-chair of the Shanghai Volunteer Corps. “Many people offered great support and ideas about how to make this an inspiring visit for the kids. Actually, at the end of the day, we were also inspired by these kids during their visit.”
