The 2015 Chevy SS Sedan

Americans in general typically don’t like to give credit to the inventors of great things, if they’re not American. You call it a flaw; we call it pride, you commie. But there’s one thing that even American gearheads have to give thanks to the Aussies for: the Chevy SS. That’s right, our precious rear-wheel-drive performance sedan is based on the Holden Commodore, which, of course, is built in Australia. (Although, we’re not too happy that Holden is closing up shop in 2017 because then what the heck is going to happen to the SS?)

If you’re in the market for an SS sedan, however, and you’re feeling particularly thankful to the folks Down Under, you could consider get a Holden badge for your Chevy SS. How, you ask? Easy: opt for stuff you’d never otherwise opt for.

See, we weren’t lying.

Our friends at Jalopnik made the discovery on the new Chevy SS configurator (which officially acknowledges that a manual gearbox will be available on the 2015 model). The optional front molded splash guard, the rear splash guard, and even the floormats bear the Holden logo, either because some bumbling fool was too lazy to change them or because Chevy hoped to pay homage to its Australian brother.

Probably the former.
