The Holden Colorado 7 will be replaced later this year by the returning Trailblazer, the brand confirmed on Friday.

The Trailblazer, which was revealed in Brazil, will become Australia’s new go-to name for 4×4 SUVs, and it will bring with it a new look, improved technology, and cutting-edge design. While it will utilize much of the same architecture as the outgoing Colorado 7, Holden is touting this as a new experience altogether.

“With the redesigned 2017 Trailblazer, we have dialed up the luxury and ride comfort to offer a more premium SUV that’s comfortable and confident in urban areas, but remains just as capable for weekend adventures,” said Geraldine Davys, Holden’s Executive Director of Marketing. “The move to adopt the Trailblazer name emphasizes the vehicle’s new direction into a more luxurious and premium space.”

The Trailblazer will feature a redesigned interior lush with premium materials and contrast stitching. Its new center stack can be equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen that offers access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

“Trailblazer is a 4×4, seven-seat, family adventure vehicle that is refined and smooth on the road during the school run, but still able to head off the beaten track while searching for that perfect camping spot or hidden fishing hole,” said Peter Keley, Holden’s Executive Director of Sales. “Trailblazer also delivers on customer expectations of comfort, luxury and advanced technology, with the use of premium cabin materials and new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection technology.”

The 2017 Holden Trailblazer will go on sale in Australia later this year. More details will be revealed closer to launch.
