Holden has announced that its Colorado pickup truck will be taking part in the SuperUtes EcB Series in 2018. The new category from Supercars will pit turbodiesel RWD dual or twin cab pickups against one another, effectively replacing the Holden v Ford V8 Ute Series. It will see a 32-ute grid made up of up to six of the six models in the segment.

To confirm its intentions, Holden released a rendering of the Colorado SuperUte, which is done up in Satin Steel Grey and gets a loud and fierce Holden Lion livery with the word Colorado emblazoned across the sides.

“SuperUtes is an exciting new racing series and supporting Australian motorsport has been an important part of Holden’s heritage, so we are delighted to homologate Colorado for the series,” said GM Holden General Manager of Brand, Media, and Sponsorship Emma Pinwill. “Colorado has been engineered to handle anything thrown at it by our customers, from inner city and suburban roads to rural highways, dirt roads, and off-road. The race track is no different and we are confident Colorado will carry on Holden’s winning tradition.”

The first Colorado SuperUte is being built at Ross Stone Racing and will include a CAMS-approved control roll cage, pedal box, gearbox, brakes, wheels, and suspension. Supercars has limited output to 345 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque and mandated a minimum weight of 1,800 kg (3,968 pounds)

“Holden has been such an integral part of Supercars rich history, so it goes without saying that we are delighted to welcome it to the SuperUtes ECB Series,” Supercars CEO James Warburton said.
