The 2017 Honda HR-V has officially been priced at $19,365 for the base model

Honda continues to clean up during awards season, with two 2017 Honda vehicles being winners in Kelley Blue Book’s 2017 5-Year Cost to Own Awards.

The Accord took home the top honors in the mid-size car category, with second and third place going to the 2017 Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata, respectively. The Accord earned praise for its continued legacy or reliability, which now stretches to four decades.

“The Honda Accord’s recipe for success includes supple but playful driving manners, efficient powertrains, a roomy interior and a history of reliability,” wrote KBB.com editors. “Combined with a starting price of just over $23,000 and its ability to hold its value, this latest Honda Accord returns to the top of the 5-Year Cost to Own pack.”

In the subcompact SUV/crossover segment, the HR-V was crowned victor for the second straight year, beating out the second-place Nissan Juke and third-place Mazda CX-3.

“The 2017 Honda HR-V has impressed us on a number of levels,” wrote KBB.com editors. “It’s affordable, great on gas, as reliable as, well, a Honda, and offers very good resale value. As it turns out, those are all great reasons for its excellent 5-year cost to own story as well.”

The KBB 5-Year Cost to Own Awards are given in recognition of vehicles with the lowest projected ownership costs based on KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own data, which looks at the initial five-year ownership period while taking into account factors including depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, state fees, and maintenance and repair costs.
