ExtremeTech has named the 2018 Honda Accord the “Best Car of 2018” and recognized Honda as the brand with the “Best Automotive Lineup” in its Best Cars and Car Tech for 2018 awards.

“There are virtually no bad cars anymore,” says Bill Howard, ExtremeTech editor. “Our choices for the best cars for 2018 are based most of all on technology, rather than exterior design or the best leather-imitating vinyl. Technology is the difference-maker in cars, what separates the good, better, and best.”

The all-new, 10th generation 2018 Honda Accord has been collecting awards left and right ever since its launch in October of last year and is showing no signs of slowing down. It boasts two new turbocharged engines, better fuel economy than ever, sharp styling, and more importantly an impressive list of standard and available features.

“[It] represents a nearly flawless execution of the midsize sedan genre,” Howard writes. “It’s safe, roomy, quick, and efficiency. Along mainstream midsize sedans, only the Mazda6 is a serious competitor in the handling department.”

ExtremeTech went on to laud the Accord for offering Honda Sensing as standard equipment, a suite of driver assistive technologies that includes adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, and lane keeping assist.

The publication also lauded Honda for having the best vehicle lineup of any automaker, specifically citing the Accord, Civic, and Fit among sedans and the CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey, and Ridgeline among crossovers, minivans, and trucks.

“Honda is on a roll,” Howard says. “It has class-leading (or top three) vehicles in virtually every category it plays in.”
