American Honda Motor Company announced impressive September 2015 sales returns today, with the automaker increasing 13.1% in year-over-year sales with a record 133,750 units sold. The Acura luxury brand accounted for 14,704 of those vehicle sales, while Honda moved a record 63,635 vehicles, for a 26.9% increase.

Trucks were the driving force for both Honda and Acura, with the all-new Honda Pilot SUV leading the way with a 25.6% increase. The perennially popular CR-V had a good September as well, moving 29,925 units for a 21% increase.

September was also kind to Honda’s bread and butter, the Accord and Civic, which posted sales of 33,641 and 28,278 units, respectively.

“The success of our new truck introductions has given us great momentum heading into fall,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “Now we see the freshened Accord and all-new Civic sedan propelling us into 2016 as we continue to bolster our lineup with exciting new products throughout the year.”

The Acura Division saw a more modest 6.3% increase, led, as usual, by the MDX (4,313 units) and RDX (3,848).

“In addition to strong demand for our lineup of luxury performance products what we are seeing is the growing stature of the Acura brand,” said Acura exec Jon Ikeda. “With the reborn NSX on the horizon, Acura is poised for great things in the luxury automotive marketplace.”
