Honda Auctioning Off Seven-Millionth Vehicle Built in Canada for Charity

Honda recently celebrated the manufacturing of its 30 millionth vehicle built in North America. Though most were made here in the United States, a fair amount of those automobiles were produced by our neighbor to the North, Canada—about seven million, in fact.
Now, the Japanese automaker has announced that the milestone seven-millionth Honda—a 2015 Civic EX sedan—will be auctioned off at the annual Rally For Kids with Cancer fundraiser, with all proceeds being going to the Sick Kids Foundation.
“At Honda, we strive to be a company that Canadians want to exist,” said Honda Canada President and CEO Jerry Chenkin. “In order to execute this vision, the Honda Canada Foundation provides annual funding to registered non-profit charities across Canada in support of science- and engineering-based education, environment and family initiatives. For Honda, it’s more than just building goodwill through participation in local programs or about being recognized as a good corporate citizen—it’s about building a better community.”
With the opening of the Allison, Ontario plant nearly thirty years ago, Honda became the first Japanese car manufacturer to build vehicles in Canada. Since 1986, Honda Canada Manufacturing has gone on to build several Honda and Acura models, including the Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, and Ridgeline, as well as the EL, CSX, and ZDX. Today the plants produce Honda CR-Vs and Civics.
