Honda FCV Concept Headed to DC for 2015 Washington Auto Show
Honda is awfully proud of its new FCV concept. First the automaker unveiled the zero-emissions fuel-cell vehicle in its home country of Japan back in November, then it gave the futuristic model its American debut last week in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show. Now the company has announced that the Honda FCV Concept is headed to our nation’s capital for yet another curtain call at the 2015 Washington Auto Show.
The FCV will anchor Honda’s booth at the 2015 Washington Auto Show, which begins this Friday, January 23rd. Though it’s only a concept, the Honda FCV provides a glimpse at what Honda’s next fuel-cell vehicle production model will look like when it eventually launches in 2016. Honda intends for its next-gen FCV to offer greater interior space, a lower cost, and a driving range that exceeds 300 miles.
“Fuel-cell vehicles are a critical pillar for meeting our mid- to long-term carbon cutting goals,” said Robert Bienenfeld, American Honda Motor’s assistant vice president of environment and energy strategy. “With renewed attention to the development and thoughtful rollout of a fueling infrastructure, it’s a very exciting time for both the technology and the promise it holds.”
It will also be announced at the 2015 Washington Auto Show that Honda’s 2015 CR-V and the 2015 Fit’s 1.5-liter Earth Dreams Technology engine are finalists for Green Car Journal’s green technology awards. The official winners will be revealed at the show. Let’s hope the whole experience is more fun than Honda’s last trip to DC…
