When it comes to fuel economy in fleet cars, American Honda is where it’s at. With the highest fleet fuel economy, greatest increase in year-over-year fuel economy, and the lowest CO2 emissions of all the full-line automakers in the U.S., Honda has the perfect fleet vehicles for any job. Add the fact that seven models within the Honda fleet family have received a Top Safety+ pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and you can’t go wrong with the Japanese automaker.

“At Honda, we’re proving that safety and fuel economy need not necessarily be at cross purposes,” said Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President of American Honda Motor, Co. “We’re taking unprecedented steps to ensure that our products literally lead the industry in both. Our IIHS test results and EPA number speak for us on this matter.”

Honda fleet fuel economy averaged 26.6 miles per gallon in the U.S. according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, making it the highest fleet-average fuel economy and exceeding the industry average of 23.6 miles per gallon for all vehicles. The industry average was only exceeded by one other automaker, Mazda, who doesn’t make large light trucks or luxury brand vehicles.
