The Japanese automaker has released a 93-page Honda Green Dealer Guide for all US auto dealerships

To help car dealerships reduce their energy consumption, costs, and environmental impact, Honda has released the Honda Green Dealer Guide, a 93-page “energy efficient roadmap” developed specifically for dealerships and similar commercial buildings. The Japanese automaker is encouraging all dealerships, regardless of brand, to download the Honda Green Dealer Guide by going to this website.

“In researching existing green building programs, we found there was nothing ideally suited to the unique operational needs of auto dealerships, especially existing dealer facilities. We decided to create a roadmap that any dealer can use to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and cut overhead costs,” said Steven Center, the Vice President of Honda’s Environmental Business Development Office. “The bottom line is that green business is good business, and this guide gives dealers the tools they need to become more efficient and profitable at the same time.”

The Honda Green Dealer Guide is based on the Japanese automaker’s own experiences implementing the Environmental Leadership Program. So far, 45 Honda and Acura dealerships in the US have reduced their energy consumption by 10% or more, with seven of them actually cutting their usage by 50% or more. If all 17,000 automotive dealers in America would follow suit in reducing their energy consumption by just 10%, almost 800,000 tons of annual CO2 emissions would be eliminated.
