Honda honors parts suppliersHonda has announced it has purchased more than $300 billion in parts and materials from more than 650 automotive part suppliers in North America over the last 35 years. While celebrating the milestone at its 30th Supplier Conference last month, the automaker honored more than 100 of these suppliers for outstanding performance.

The milestone is yet another indication of Honda’s growth in the region. Last year, it set two new records by purchasing more than $25.5 billion in parts in North America and manufacturing 1.78 million automobiles.

Today, more than 650 domestic OEM part suppliers deliver parts to 14 major manufacturing facilities in North America to build Honda and Acura vehicles, engines, and transmissions. In North Carolina, Honda also builds lawn mowers, mini-tillers, and general purpose engines.

“Together, Honda and our suppliers can support Honda’s goal to become a truly global company by becoming a truly self-reliant regional company here in North America,” said Chitoshi Yokota, senior executive vice president of Honda North America.

Our congratulations go out to Honda on another impressive milestone on their North American journey. We’re looking forward to seeing which other milestones the Japanese automaker will hit in 2014. Stay tuned to the News Wheel for the latest on Honda and other popular automakers!
