Honda Jazz vehicle which won big at 2016 Telegraph Cars Award

Honda was recognized at this year’s 2016 Telegraph Cars Awards, the European automotive awards chosen by The Daily Telegraph. The automaker was honored for the Honda Jazz, which was named Best Small Hatchback.

The Honda Jazz, as well as the diverse array of other awarded new models, were all chosen by the Telegraph’s expert road test team. The team has spent the last 12 months have putting hundreds of cars through a rigorous review process, which began with early first drives, included a detailed 10-point test, and for extra scrutiny, even involved living with the cars on a long-term test basis.

“Many have tried to copy the Jazz’s formula for success, but nothing does it quite so well,” the judges said when rendering their decision to award the Jazz. “For a small car, interior space is impressive, and Honda’s reliability record is superb.”

Known as the Honda Fit here in the United States, the third generation of the Jazz launched last year. Worldwide, the vehicle has sold more than 5 million units since 2001, when the first generation model was initially introduced.

A truly global car, the Jazz is currently being manufactured in seven different countries.

“Being recognized by one of the foremost motoring teams at one of our national newspapers is a fantastic accolade for both the brand and the Jazz,” said Phil Webb, Head of Cars at Honda UK. “The Jazz is a very important model for us, with an extremely loyal following, so we look forward to seeing this success continue.”
