Ever looked at the Honda Civic Type R hot hatchback and thought, “I don’t really want the car, but I’d love to get my hands on that sweet engine to put in another chassis”?

Well now you can, thanks to the new Civic Type R crate engine program Honda has just launched at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. And boy is it dirt cheap—for only $6,519.87, excluding shipping costs, you can get your hands on the most powerful Honda automobile production engine ever made in America: a 2.0-liter DOHC direct-injected i-VTEC Turbo that makes 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The engine will available for purchase through Honda Performance Development’s (HPD) Honda Racing Line program, which has been providing Honda racing performance parts to racing outfits for many years.

“The engine and the Civic Type R are a direct manifestation of Honda’s racing spirit, experience and heritage. More so, the sale of the Civic Type R crate engine builds upon Honda’s long-term commitment to the support of grassroots racing,” said Honda North America in a press release.

As though to drive the point home, Honda came to the 2017 SEMA Show with a variety of racing cars: the Red Bull Global Rallycross Civic Coupe, the Pirelli World Challenge Civic Si, the race car for the new Formula 3 Americas championship that will be part of the Global FIA Pathway, and the Baja 1000 50th Anniversary Honda Ridgeline off-road race truck—just to name a few.

Conveniently, it also brought a Civic Si featuring the very engine swap you can now do yourself with the Civic Type R crate engine, complete with a number of other HPD race performance parts, aftermarket parts, and Honda Genuine Parts.
