NSX shortlisted for 2016 What Car? Reader Award

Honda is looking to repeat the success it had last year in winning the What Car? Reader Award, when the HR-V was named the United Kingdom’s most eagerly anticipated new model of 2015. Now the Japanese automaker’s new NSX hybrid supercar, which goes on sale in the UK next year, has just been chosen as one of the nominees for 2016.

“With so many exciting new models going on sale over the course of the next 12 months, British motorists have never had so many outstanding options available at every price,” said What Car? Editorial Director Jim Holder. “The Reader Award holds a special prominence for all the manufacturers because it is voted for purely by the paying public. Winning this award is a huge accolade, because it signals to a manufacturer that it has an upcoming sales success on its hands.”

The nine other finalists for the award include the Ford Focus RS, Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Evoque Convertible, Bentley Bentayga, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Tesla Model X, Toyota Prius, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Fiat 124 Spider.

While it may or may not best its rivals for the title of most eagerly anticipated car, the oft-delayed NSX is definitely a shoe-in for most patiently anticipated car.

“It’s great to see that I’m not alone in looking forward to the launch of the NSX and I have my fingers crossed that it will help us retain the Reader Award title,” said Philip Crossman, Managing Director at Honda UK. “We were all very proud when the HR-V won the crown back in January and to be able to see the title go to the NSX would be brilliant. I will be encouraging everyone I speak to and see to cast their vote.”

Voting for the What Car? Reader Award is open online, and closes on Friday, November 27, 2015. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on January 13, 2016. To read more about the nominees and to vote for your favorite, click here.
