The National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD) and IHS Automotive have teamed up to create the Diversity Volume Leadership Awards, which took place at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. And in the first-ever installment of the new diversity awards, Honda was well-represented, being honored with four awards at the event.

The Honda Accord, Civic, and CR-V accounted for the brand’s success, with the Accord taking home two trophies all on its own. The Honda CR-V was named the “Top Women’s Vehicle” at the Diversity Volume Leadership Awards, while the Accord was recognized as the “Top Ethnic Millennial Vehicle.” The Accord was also recognized as an “Ethnic Volume Leader” in the Mideast region, while the Honda Civic earned the same title for its popularity in the Western region.

“We are witnessing a massive demographic shift that is reshaping our marketplace,” said Marc Burt, assistant vice president of Honda North America’s Office of Inclusion & Diversity. “These awards reflect our associates’ continued commitment to innovation and overall understanding of how our vehicle design, functionality, and marketing relate to our increasingly diverse customers.”

The Diversity Volume Leadership Awards is the only event that recognizes automotive brands for driving sales with multicultural customers. Automakers were honored for producing vehicles that had the highest number of new-vehicle registrations among Hispanics, African-Americans, Asian Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans.
