Honda Recognizes Top North American Suppliers at Indianapolis Event
Last month in Indianapolis, Honda held its 32nd annual Honda Supplier Conference, an event honoring 93 North American auto suppliers for their exemplary efforts in supplying parts and materials. The event, held on April 29th, was attended by more than 600 original equipment suppliers, and served as an opportunity for the company to emphasize the importance of strong supplier relations and working closely as a team.
Honda honored both suppliers that provide parts and materials for mass production products, and companies that supply service parts that serve the needs of customers who have already purchased Honda and Acura vehicles.
Honors and Awards: Honda has cleaned up during awards season
“As our responsibilities continue to increase in the North American region, there is a greater requirement for teamwork and collaboration than ever before,” said Tom Lake, vice president of North American Purchasing at Honda North America (HNA). “Let’s continue to work together to create new dreams for our customers and, in so doing, create our future together.”
Last year, HNA produced a record 1.86 million Honda and Acura vehicles in North America, and did so by purchasing a record $27.6 billion in parts and materials for mass production.
HNA senior vice president of Engineering Planning and Cost, Dan Smith, stressed in a statement the importance of remaining focused on manufacturing flexibility and innovation in order to meet high customer demand for Honda and Acura vehicles and products.

“We have the strongest product lineup in our history and we’re working hard to leverage our production flexibility to meet customer demand now and in the coming months,” said Smith. “This has included adjustments early next year with MDX being added to the East Liberty (Ohio) Plant and the startup of CR-V production here in Indiana.”
