Honda, Thrillist, and JackThreads Team Up to Beg the Question, “WHAT ARE THOOOOOOSE?!?”
To promote the new Civic, Honda has collaborated with lifestyle website Thrillist and fashion retailer JackThreads to create a limited edition HT3 Driving Shoe, thus prompting the query, WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOSE?!?!?!
Nah, I kid, they’re actually not that bad. I don’t know if these compact-car-inspired kicks have enough street cred to show up in the next “Damn, Daniel!” video, but I personally think they look decent.
With a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price of $100, these driving shoes are available exclusively at JackThreads.com. Inspired by the “high touch, high tension, and high tech” design of the 2016 Honda Civic, the sneakers were conceived by the team at Thrillist and brought to life by designers at JackThreads, who worked closely with the Civic sedan’s lead exterior designer, Jarad Hall.
The shoe’s sleek silhouette, clean lines, and premium materials—which include suede with metallic hints and a quilted leather pattern on the insole and heel counter—are meant to recall the look and feel of the new Civic. The HT3 Driving Shoe also offers a similarly comfortable ride, thanks to a neoprene vamp that fits over the top of the foot, along with articulated nodes that wrap around the wearer’s ankle. JackThreads also developed a unique suede shroud that fastens into place to cover the laces, and when unfastened, shows off the Civic’s logo.
“We wanted to create a shoe that’s unlike anything seen before – something that is as comfortable to wear as it is fashion-forward and futuristic,” said Michael Vincent, JackThreads’ Senior Buyer of Footwear. “The HT3 is a great versatile sneaker that elevates the basic functionality of the driving shoe and marries the design aesthetic of Honda and JackThreads.”
The HT3 Driving Shoe got its official debut alongside the 2016 Civic on March 29th, at a special event in Los Angeles that was hosted by Thrillist.
Still no word on where we can get a hold of those fly Civic jackets, though…

He loves to take road trips, sometimes to places as distant as Northeastern or even Northwestern Ohio. Patrick also enjoys old movies, shopping at thrift stores, going to ballgames, writing about those things, and watching Law & Order reruns. He just watches the original series, though, none of the spin-offs. And also only the ones they made before Jerry Orbach died. Season five was really the peak, in his opinion.
