Honda Trucks Set New March Sales Record

Honda continues its recent spate of sales success, announcing US sales of 138,221 Honda and Acura vehicles in March, representing a 9.4% increase in sales for the month. Honda accounted for 123,369 of those shares, which marks a 10.5% increase for the brand, while Acura’s 14,852 sales accounted for a more tepid 1.2% increase.
Trucks were the real star of the automaker’s portfolio, with a record-setting 64,453 units sold, good for a 5.7% jump. Sales of the Honda HR-V topped 6,300 units, while the RDX led Acura’s lineup with 5,310 sales.
The all-new 2016 Honda Civic continues to perform well for the brand, setting a new March record of 32,855. The Accord continues to perform well, also, with an increase of 17.3% in March and 30,523 units sold.
“The power of Honda’s well-balanced portfolio was on full display in March,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “Importantly, we will continue to strengthen both our car and truck lineups throughout the year, with new core and niche products to further extend the brand’s appeal.”
For Acura, the big success story was the refreshed RDX, which set a new March record with a 34% sales gain on sales of 5,310 units. The TLX also continued its good run, with 3,768 units sold last month.
“Acura posted a solid month even as we gained fresh momentum from the New York Auto Show debuts of the 2017 MDX and NSX GT3 racecar,” said Acura executive Jon Ikeda. “Our entire Acura team is excited by the market reaction to our new design direction and the preparation for delivery of the first all-new NSX.”
