Honda has revealed the all-new, fifth-generation 2017 CR-V, which is slated to hit dealerships this winter.

America’s best-selling SUV over the past 20 years, the newest edition of the CR-V has been completely redesigned and reengineered, and features the model’s first-ever turbocharged engine and several new features and technologies.

The changes begin with the exterior, which now features Honda LED headlights on the Touring trim, a Honda-first Active Shutter Grille that lowers aerodynamic drag, uprated 17- to 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, and narrower A-pillars for better visibility.

A new available Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate allows drivers to open and close the tailgate using a foot-activated sensor. Other newly available features include Auto High Beam with High Beam Support (AHB) headlights, chrome garnishes, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails, and numerous Genuine Honda Accessories.

EX and higher trims become the first CR-Vs to feature a turbocharged engine, a 1.5-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder powertrain. More powerful and fuel-efficient than ever, the turbo motor is rated at 190 horsepower and, according to Honda, will garner the highest EPA ratings in the compact SUV class.

The more spacious interior features upgraded materials throughout, including a new color TFT driver information interface center meter display, a soft-touch instrument panel, and more intricately stitched seats.

New tech features include an available 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio interface with Android operating system that now includes a physical volume knob, and an available new Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System that was developed in collaboration with Garmin.

“The new Honda CR-V raises the bar in every imaginable way, delivering more performance, space and premium content together with higher fuel economy ratings and value than ever before,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “Customers are going to love what they see and what they experience behind the wheel of this new CR-V.”
