Team Honda Activates 20,000 Volunteers in Community Service Across Region

This month over 20,000 volunteers participated in the second annual Team Honda Week of Service, “giving back” to their respective communities by engaging in several types of community support activities at charitable organizations across North America.

From June 9th through the 18th, volunteers wearing red “Team Honda” shirts supported hundreds of organizations. Honda associates, dealership employees, and suppliers throughout North America joined forces to engage in 450 coordinated group volunteer activities in 43 states, as well as Canada and Mexico.

“Our dealerships had a great week serving in our community,” said Eric Johnson, Director of Community Partnerships at Tampa Honda/Wesley Chapel Honda in Florida, which engaged in the Week of Service by serving meals at a local food bank.

Other types of philanthropic endeavors that Team Honda participated in included food and blood drives, adopt-a-pet events, beach clean-ups, and home repairs for the needy, to list a few examples.

In total, the Team Honda Week of Service involved more than 20,000 volunteers, over 54 tons of food collected, more than 162,000 meals served, nearly 1,000 bags of trash collected, approximately 700 pints of blood donated, and in excess of 11,000 health kits collected and donated.

“We are so proud of our associates and business partners who took time out to help improve the lives of people in their communities,” said Jeffrey Smith, Vice President, North American Corporate Communications for Honda North America. “This week shows what can happen when a team of people come together to make a difference.”
