HondaJet Completes First Flight, Closes in on Certification

HondaJetThe quest of the Honda Aircraft Company to put their HondaJet into service next year took another step forward on June 27 when Honda celebrated a successful initial flight from the first production version of the aircraft.

“With this first flight, the HondaJet program has entered the next exciting phase as we prepare for delivery,” said Honda Aircraft Company President and CEO Michimasa Fujino in a press release. “Today’s celebration is the culmination of extensive engineering and production efforts, and this is an important achievement in bringing the world’s most advanced light jet to market.”

HondaJetThe first HondaJet took off from Piedmont Triad International Airport (KGSO) at 10:18 ET and was in the air for 84 minutes, reaching eights of 15,500 feet and speeds of 348 KTAS. The HondaJet was flown by Warren Gould.

Honda Aircraft Company plans to have a full inventory available for purchase upon receiving Federal Aviation Administration certification. HondaJet will be available in four exterior colors: silver, red, yellow, and blue.

The HondaJet can seat up to five passengers, flies at a maximum cruise speed of 420 knots, has a max altitude of 43,000 feet, and has a travel range of about 1,357 miles. It stands to be the fastest, most spacious, and most fuel efficient light business jet aircraft option on the market when it arrives next year.
