Hoonicorn RTR, Ken Block’s Gymkhana 7 Mustang, Wins SEMA
It's a 1965 'Stang with 865 horsepower, AWD, and a whole bunch of Road Warrior style. Who is going to top that?
Okay, folks. We can just go ahead and shut SEMA down right this instant. No need to go through with the next three days. We already have a winner for the absolute best thing at the show, and the honor goes to Ken Block’s Gymkhana 7 Mustang, which he has affectionately dubbed the Hoonicorn RTR.
So what is the Hoonicorn RTR? It’s an 845-horsepower all-wheel-drive 1965 Ford Mustang that appears to have been ripped right out of your Mad Max fantasies.

“I’m stoked to be able to publicly unveil this car for the first time at SEMA in the Ford booth,” said Block. “This is a project that I’ve been working on for two years, so to see it fully come to fruition and be able to drive it for Gymkhana SEVEN was absolutely amazing. I also knew that working with Vaughn [Gittin Jr.] and his RTR team was the right choice for this project since Mustang’s are their world, but they really went above and beyond on this car. The attention to detail with the fabrication and bodywork blows my mind. This is hands-down the best Gymkhana car I’ve had yet.”
The Hoonicorn RTR was built at ASD Motorsports in Charlotte over the course of two years, and it’s fitted with a preposterous 410 cubic-inch Roush-Yates V8 that chucks down 845 horsepower like it’s giving out Halloween candy to kids in Taylor Swift costumes. The AWD system is a one-off from Sadev that features a hydraulic handbrake, and it all rides on an ASD-built suspension and fifteen52 three-piece R40s.
You can behold the whole thing in all of its beautiful glory at the Ford booth at SEMA. If you can’t make it to Vegas, then you’ll no doubt want to keep your eyes peeled for a release date for Gymkhana 7.
