Honda Road Readers App

Last December, Honda announced the introduction of the Honda Road Readers app, which enables Honda owners to download free children’s audiobooks for family drives. Today the automaker released a video explaining how to use the Honda Road Readers app.

As the video explains, Honda owners are able to download up to four free audiobooks per Honda VIN per year, beginning with J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. As long as you have a compatible iPhone or Android smartphone, you can choose from hundreds of recordings aimed at entertaining kids during long road trips.

First, go to the website www.hondaroadreaders.com to register for the app. Enter your name, email, and your Honda’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN), and create a password. If using your iPhone or Android to register, there’s actually a way to simply scan your VIN rather than type it in.

Up to three users can register with the same Honda VIN, and each user can register up to four more Honda VINs per person, a convenient feature for people that own as many as five Honda vehicles (like this guy, perhaps).

Once you download the app to your phone, you’ll be able to sign in with the email address and password you used when registering. Peter Pan is already loaded (though not yet downloaded) on the app, and users can browse various categories to find the other four free audiobooks they would like to download.

Depending on how new or expensive your Honda is, you will be able to listen to the audiobook on your car’s stereo system using either an auxiliary input jack, USB audio interface, Bluetooth streaming, or Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Be sure to register and download your books before November of this year, which is when the Honda Road Readers program ends.
