Hyundai Announces the 2018 Hyundai Tuscon Sport Trim with an Exclusive Powertrain
While most 2018 models have already arrived in dealership showrooms, Hyundai announced yesterday that it’s making a modification to its lineup. Specifically, to the 2018 Hyundai Tucson.
Previously, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson had five trims: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Value, and Limited. Now, Hyundai is adding a sixth trim: the Sport, sitting comfortably between the SEL and the SEL Plus. The Sport will come with an exclusive powertrain, giving it a bit more bite than its fellow Tucson trims.

The 2018 Tucson Sport arrives with a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder GDI engine, producing 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. This offers a slight power boost compared to the rest of the Tucson lineup, with the strongest engine rated at 175 horsepower. The Tucson Sport’s engine will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual shift mode, giving the Sport a more hands-on handling experience.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations are available for the 2018 Tucson Sport, with the AWD model adding a windshield wiper de-icer to its list of features. All Tucson Sport models will include top-tech features like Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Lane Change Assist (LCA). Its exterior is designed to fit perfectly in the Tucson lineup, with 19-inch alloy wheels and chrome-tipped dual exhaust.

Since the Tucson Sport will be placed between the SEL and SEL Plus trims, it will be priced accordingly. MSRP for the FWD model is set at $25,150, while the AWD configuration has a price of $26,550. There’s no word yet on when the 2018 Hyundai Tucson Sport will physically arrive in dealerships, but you can order the model now.
