Hyundai Highlights at Chicago Auto Show Include 2017 Sante Fe Debut

Hyundai Presentation at 2016 Chicago Auto Show

Today at the first media preview day of the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, Hyundai presented the updated 2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport at a press conference. Held in the North Hall of McCormick Place in downtown Chicago, this reveal event was for the face-lifted 2017 Santa Fe’s first official appearance.

These mid-cycle refreshes are intended to meet the growing demand of CUVs in the United States.

The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport midsize crossover SUVs were officially unveiled at Hyundai’s CAS press conference. This mild mid-cycle refreshes involves new headlights/grille and added infotainment/safety features to keep it competitive in its growing segment. Inside, ergonomic seating and the user-friendly controls layout are enhanced to provide a premium feel.

Rumors had been circulating about the 2017 Santa Fe since last year, following the release of mule spy shots. There’s no word on the hybrid AWD system rumor, but confirmed changes include:

Exterior

  • Enhanced rear fascia design with new taillights and new dual exhaust outlet design
  • Redesigned front fascia with brushed-appearance front grille and new headlight design
  • New available LED fog lights (three-row Santa Fe model only)
  • New designs for 17-,18-, and 19-inch alloy wheels
  • New rocker panel trim design with integrated silver accents
  • New available LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)

Powertrain

  • New standard Drive Mode Select (Sport, Eco and Normal modes)

Interior

  • Standard five-inch color LCD display audio system
  • New, available eight-inch touchscreen navigation system with Android Auto™
  • New, standard seven-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto™ (Santa Fe 3-row)
    • Available on Santa Fe Sport
  • Available Infinity® premium audio
    • New, with QuantumLogic® Surround and Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration Technology

Both Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport models are expected to go on sale in mid-2016.

In addition, Hyundai’s booth at the Chicago Auto Show also features the latest Accent, Azera, Equus, Genesis, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, and Veloster production vehicles. The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is also appearing again, following its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month.

At last year’s Chicago Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled the sporty Rally Edition of the under-appreciated Veloster model.
