And then there were three…

That’s how many major car manufacturers still offer 100,000-mile powertrain warranties in the United States—and that number could drop to two, depending on whether or not you think Mitsubishi qualifies as a “major” car manufacturer.

Only Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi remain, in light of Fiat-Chrysler’s recent decision to downgrade its warranty coverage from 100,000 miles to 60,000 miles. The automaker’s 2016 models will now carry a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, as opposed to the 5-year/100,000-mile coverage that FCA previously offered.

“Most people don’t ask about the powertrain warranty because there just aren’t that many problems anymore,” a CDJR dealer from Houston told AutoNews.

However, Hyundai-Kia spokesman Derek Joyce said that the South Korean automaker’s 10-year/100,000-mile warranty “remains an important component of our brand promise to our customers.”

FCA is following GM’s lead, after the American automaker reduced the 5-year powertrain warranties for Chevy and GMC vehicles to 60,000 miles in March. Toyota, Ford, and Honda all carry 60,000-mile warranties, as well.

It should be noted that Fiat-Chrysler’s powertrain warranty change “does not apply to the automaker’s Fiat, Alfa Romeo or diesel-powered vehicles”—although if you can afford an Alfa Romeo, you probably don’t spend too much time fretting about warranties and such.

That’s something for the poors to worry about…
