Hyundai Teams with Cisco to Grow Global Connected Car Network

Recently, Hyundai publicly announced its intent to turn its vehicles into “hyper-connected and intelligent cars” over the next decade. The Korean automaker has taken another step on its path of “Car to Life connectivity” by partnering with leading IT and networking company Cisco to make such high-volume data sharing possible.

Through this collaboration, Hyundai’s in-vehicle networks will be greatly improved through the enhancement of data transmission and reception. This program is great news for proponents of intelligent automotive connectivity systems.

The partnership between Hyundai Motors and Cisco not only will focus on having cars communicate more effectively with each other, it also enhances the way subsystems communicate within the vehicle. In the deal, Hyundai will be investing heavily in cloud data networking.

“Future connected cars will open new innovations in quality, safety, and security, as never before,” promised Euisun Chung, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motors. “By expanding time and space, more safety will be guaranteed for our customers. Hyundai Motor will provide new values that go beyond our customers’ expectations in safety, quality and security through cooperating with Cisco. This collaboration will be a chance to bring closer the Hyundai Motor-led future of connected cars and shift paradigms of new mobility.”

Progress will begin, as always, with thorough research and testing. In this case, a precise testing environment will be assembled for vehicle simulation. By sharing test and analysis findings, Hyundai and Cisco will both benefit. Each company’s products will be enhanced in real-world applications, from internal security features to global communication grids.
